As opposed to most multi-channel distributed sound amplifiers, the GFA-5002 and GFA-5006 are ultra-high performance power amplifiers designed to provide musical enjoyment throughout your home. Want music in the kitchen, music in the living room, music in the bedroom, even music in the workshop or garage? Simply install a GFA-5002 AND/OR a GFA-5006 with a multi-room music control system, like the ADCOM GFB-800II, add some source components and you're in multi-room sound nirvana.
Both these units use the same modular amplifier circuits, with each channel delivering 50 watts RMS at 8 ohms, and 75 watts into 4 ohms. And each stereo amp can be easily "bridged" to become a single channel, 175 watt unit. This alone makes them extremely flexible and adaptable. But wait. There's lots more.
The GFA-5002 is a "single" stereo amplifier delivering either 50 watts times two or 175 watts into one channel. The GFA-5006 is three GFA-5002s on a single heavy steel chassis, so essentially it's three bridgeable stereo amplifiers, making a six-channel powerhouse. Depending on your needs, the GFA-5006 can be configured as six-channel amplifier (6 x 50 watts per channel), or a five-channel amplifier (4 x 50 watts and 1 x 175 watts per channel), or a four-channel amplifier (2 x 50 watts and 2 x 175 watts per channel), or a three-channel amplifier (3 x 175 watts per channel). Both amplifiers use massive toroidal power supply transformers, with independent taps for each channel, large, high quality, storage capacitors and high current rectifiers ensure enough current to drive almost any loudspeaker. The low level stages are Class "A" designs, long considered the best sounding type of amplifier, and are direct coupled to eliminate the deleterious effects capacitors can have on the sound. These low noise, low distortion, input and gain stages are followed by a high current driver stage, which in turn feeds the output jacks for easy daisy chaining (so you can add more amplifiers for more rooms); Music Sensing auto-turn on and a 3-30 Volt DC auto-turn on circuit; rear panel level controls for each channel; gold-plated RCA jacks; a ground lifting switch; a rear mounted "vacation switch"; and heavy duty five way binding posts for speaker connection.
Finally, both units include sophisticated electronic and thermal protection circuits , along with internal fuses to eliminate concerns about shorted speaker wires, unintended misconnections, or other potential problems.
