McIntosh may offer several models of a product type; your dealer can recommend the best one for your needs. Note that the systems share a common "architecture" that facilitates additions and upgrades as well as changes in configuration. Another major benefit of McIntosh systems engineering is evident in the single cable connection between the Control Center and Multizone Power Amplifier in multizone and home theater systems. The convienent multipin cable carries all of the necessary audio and control signals. This allows them to share one group of source components. Indeed, the three multipin cables used in a combined multizone, home theater system replace literally dozens of individual connections.

Quickly disappearing are the days for the home installer of literally running miles of audio, video, remote control, and multizone wiring in new construction or even worse an existing home that wishes to upgrade to the new technology that the year 2000 has brought. The benefit to the McIntosh customer is that tremendous hours of labor are saved. In Custom Installation time truly is money. In the past the cost of the installation of the wiring for the system could reach 25 to 50% of the cost of the entire system. This is another benefit of such a complete Systems Approach to Multizone Systems.
